Christmas time

Christmas time has arrived and with it, a bombing of ad perfumes and toys, Christmas shopping, plentiful meals, families’ reunions, holidays for some fortunate people, and of course, thousands of children waiting for their presents. That‘s Christmas, don’t you think?

In spite of it, I admit I like Christmas. I like the atmosphere make it by the shops in order to sell more. I like the commercial centres and streets decoration... But this year I realised there isn’t the Christmas environment as it used to be, I mean, where I live there isn’t much lighting and it seem people takes seriously this matter of saving (in fact, there are many reasons to do it). They don’t want to spend so much, they watch carefully prices and that’s perfectly understandable. Many people were made redundant during the second half of the year, so they can’t afford to continue with the rhythm of this consumer society.

Anyway, I just want to wish Merry Christmas!!!

Spain wins Davis Cup in Mar del Plata

The tennis match Acasuso versus Verdasco was 4 hours long, and this one gave the victory to Spain. The match was exciting because when Verdasco got to be first on the scoreboard, he didn’t find a way to keep it, until the fourth set that he did. Sometimes when he did service he felt a bit nervous, because one more time spectators’ pressure over him was really hard, and he made double faults in several occasions, but finally he did a great job.

Yesterday spectator’s pressure was also strong during double tennis match. Argentinean people have a lot of passion for their players, so it is obviously when the grandstands are crowed the atmosphere will heat up, but it is unacceptable to offend. However, we don’t hit the ceiling, because in Spanish football there are also insults. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t justify violence.

I just want to make a comment for Robredo, Almagro and Nadal, because they are also winners like the rest of the team, who have travelled to Argentina, so congratulations guys!!

To sum up, this victory tastes so sweet, because I heard something like if Nadal didn’t come, it will not be necessary that Spanish team played. As the saying goes “por la boca muere el pez”. Sorry, I don’t know how to say it in English. In spite of that, Argentinean players made it difficult to win. But this time the Salad Bowl is all ours!!

War made them orphans, love made them legend

This quote belongs to the film The children of Huang Shi. This film, based in real events, explains the story of a young English journalist called George Hogg, during Japanese’s occupation and invasion in China. He became famous for saving sixtyish Chinese schoolboy war orphans, with the help of American nurse and one leader of the Chinese resistance.
George Hogg went to China as a journalist to cover the war, but a series of events take him to Huang Shi. There, he met the schoolboys, which they made the things difficult to him. At the beginning he didn’t stay, he wanted to make photographs and report to the world about what was happening, but finally in spite of adversity, he found a way to make the children’s live a little easier and happier. Unfortunately the war was arriving to Huang Shi, so they had to leave that place. The road chosen was the silk one. This journey will be really hard for children, because they would have to walk thousands and thousands of miles and of course dangerous. So hard that some people considered it impossible, but it was the one way to escape from hell.
In the orphanage, but especially during the journey, George started a close relationship with the nurse and the Chinese leader. Well, maybe it’s more suitable say love triangle, even though I can’t forget another lady, a Chinese aristocrat, who did business with George. Although this kind of relationships are showed between the lines, because, in my opinion, the most important thing in the film is save these innocent and defenseless children. In this context the main characters will learn the true meaning of love, responsibility and survival.
I think the film is good. But when I came out from the cinema I feel sad, because these events really happened. I know the industry of seventh art tends to change some things, but even so it’s rather sad, like all wars. However in some way, this film makes me remember other, The painted veil. This one it’s better, for my taste. I suppose because I’m a romantic person and this film gives more prominence to love’s story. So when I watched The children of Huang Shi I felt like if I had already seen. I don’t know to tell why, maybe because both films set on a China quite similar, but they have different argument! Anyway I liked The Children of Huang Shi, but I prefer The painted veil.

Today films!!

Today I’m going to talk about 2 films that I recently watched, Burn after Reading and The Constant Gardener.

This last weekend I went to the cinema in order to watch the new film of Coen brothers. Please, don’t go to watch it, it’s terrible!!! I read that the script has an intelligent humour, somewhere, and I know it sounds strong to tell it, but for me, it has a fool humour. Well, maybe, while you’re reading this you’re thinking that I have a very special sense of humour, and it’s true perhaps, but only very few people laughed during the film! Well, actually, it takes all sorts, I suppose.

Nevertheless, The Constant Gardener, everything is praise. I liked the story of denunciation against governments, public organizations, and pharmaceutical industries regarding African people. While I was watching the film, I thought, one more time, how corrupt the world is. We live our lives without knowing what the governments are doing in order to protect us. They just want their own advantage!! They don’t care to kill hundreds or maybe, thousands of Africans whereas they become richer every day, whereas they take one’s share. They are able to infect ALL THE WORLD to sell the cure. And I don’t forget to mention that you can’t trust your friends, colleagues... so you should be careful.

See you!!

A brief description about me.

First of all, welcome to my blog! With it, I hope improve my English but if I have to tell the truth, I don’t know what I exactly will write on it yet. Maybe I will tell you my point of view about different topics, or just write about experiences that I want to share with somebody…
I’m in my twenties, but some people say I’m older than I look. When I was younger, so much younger than today, I liked that comment, but now I don’t.
I’m sensitive, and I usually cry when I see quite sad movies. Furthermore I make a mountain out of a molehill, because I worry so much about things, people, etc. Some people close to me tell me it’s better to get it off my chest and I know it, but sometimes it’s not easy. In addition, I’m a person who like being well-informed of what’s happening in the world, so I like Politics, but not politicians, and Economy.

I like English, that’s one reason because I’m studying this language, and the others they were explained a few times at class, so I don’t want to be a dull. I enjoy a lot singing English music. I don’t sing well at all, but I love this kind of music, I mean, I like music where letter is in English. Other hobbies are, of course, cinema. I especially like films that have some sense, movies that explain something interesting, and classical films from the Golden Age of Hollywood. I’ve seen, Virginia, that V for Vendetta is a film that you like it, so do I. It’s curious how the person who seems to be bad, at the beginning, he become a hero, and how manipulated we can be. If someone didn’t see that film, I recommend it.

Well, with this little description I tell you see you soon!!
